The course of this article will be containing my diet during my recovery in Maxillofacial post-operation. Details containing what exactly this surgery is, and my post operation process will be in an other article.
During my recovery of my Maxillofacial Surgery, I ate/drank many protein shakes and shaved up food.
I had the benefit of having a missing tooth, so I could fit in a straw easily. Though I dont recommend sucking anything for about a week since it might hurt.
I drank most things via syringe which was kinda fun. I drank the chocolate Kellogg’s Protein shakes and had some blended food mixed with Milk.
The second week I started drinking with a straw, and slowly started loosing the syringe and started drinking with the straw. After the third week, I only drank with the straw, and my sensitivity around the mouth didn’t hurt as much.
All of the things that I "ate" or to put it more accurately, drank, was made with the trusty blender.
( Note: You WILL loose weight which is expected from a liquid diet and after 6 weeks. )
Here are some recipes I did:
~ Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
- 4 ounces of baby spinach
- 1/2 cup of unsweetened soy, hemp, or almond milk
- 1/2 pomegranate, cherry, or cherry-pomegranate juice
- 1 tablespoon natural cocoa powder
Directions: If using a regular blender, liquify the spinach with the soy milk and juice add remaining ingredients and blend for 2 minutes until very smooth.
~ Strawberry Smoothie
- Cup of ice
- 1/3 cup of plain yogurt ( I use Chiobani)
- 1/2 of any kind of milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
Directions: blend until smooth
~Vanilla Malt Shake
- Tablespoon of protein
- 20 malted milk balls (aka the candy whoppers)
- 1/3 cup of oat milk
- 20 malted milk balls (aka the candy whoppers)
Directions: blend until smooth
Note: Many of the shakes we made were from our own creation, which were various fruits mixed with ice cream, yogurt, and protein powders.
Feel free to spend the time recovering becoming your own barista!
